David Navarro
Development Consultant
David Navarro is a filmmaker, advocate, and influential voice in criminal justice reform, whose transformative journey began during a 10-year prison sentence. While incarcerated, he discovered his passion for storytelling through filmmaking, using a smuggled phone to teach himself the craft. Since his release, Navarro has channelled his experiences into impactful media projects aimed at deterring crime and humanising ex-offenders.
He founded a podcast (Delinquent Nation) interviewing former prisoners to share cautionary stories and inspire change. His work expanded with Channel 4, where he produced and presented a three-part online series UK Prisons: Inside Survival and the award-nominated documentary The Secrets of UK Prisons with DARE Pictures as well as the hard-hitting follow-up, Uk Prisons Exposed: Sex, Drugs and Corruption. He’s also presented the ITN produced Life Behind Bars for Crime+Investigaiton and was a consultant on the Good TV produced Wandsworth: Europe’s Most Scandalous Prison for Channel 5. As well as developing his own projects and continuing to develop ideas with DARE Pictures, he’s currently consulting on the Hugh Lawrie fronted Apple TV+ series, The Wanted Man.
Renowned for his unparalleled network of ex-offenders in the UK, Navarro leverages his access to provide unique insights into crime-related narratives, positioning him as a bridge between marginalized voices and mainstream audiences. His mission: to reshape perceptions of justice through storytelling.
